Cookie Mocktails

Girl Scout Cookies are one of America's great culinary institutions — and they translate into mocktails in a way that's almost magical. The flavor profiles of Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, and Trefoils are so distinct and so beloved that they make perfect inspiration for dessert drinks. These are the mocktails that make people's eyes light up when you tell them what they're based on.

The Thin Mint mocktail was the first one I developed, and it set the template for the whole series. The combination of dark chocolate and peppermint is so iconic that you don't need much else — just those two flavors in the right proportions, with a creamy texture and a chocolate rim, and you have something that tastes exactly like eating a Thin Mint. It's almost uncanny.

The Samoa (now called Caramel deLites in some regions) was the most challenging — the combination of chocolate, caramel, and toasted coconut is complex, and getting all three elements into a drink without it becoming a milkshake required some experimentation. The solution was a coconut cream base with a caramel drizzle and a toasted coconut rim, with just enough chocolate to tie it together. The result is rich, indulgent, and unmistakably Samoa.

These drinks are perfect for Girl Scout Cookie season (February–April), but honestly, the flavors are good year-round. They're also great for dessert parties, holiday gatherings, and any occasion where you want something that feels special and a little nostalgic. Serve them in small glasses — they're rich, and a little goes a long way.
